Rauw Alejandro

Despacito is a song from 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track worldwide within just 6 months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought attention back to this genre but it also brought attention to Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish generally, and four in the year 2016. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 songs mainly in Spanish reached the top 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team on MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated with Maluma to record Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. Certain reggaeton performers have criticized the shift to popular music by 2020. However, a brand new group, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the evolution and development of reggaeton. He incorporated electronic dance styles as well as other styles into his music.
